  1. Try reading a copy of the PENAL CODE! It covers MANY crimes.

  2. To put it simply, it an act that can be punished by the state by a fine or imprisonment, where the fine can be enforced by jail. You would have to compile a list for each state and the U.S. Code. It would be a very long list of everything that would be punished under criminal law, since it includes things like possessing armadillo for sale, in Texas. Speeding may or may not be punished as a crime, depending on the state. In some states, you appear under criminal court rules. In others, it's handled under civil rules with no jail and the fine being a civil penalty. The model for traffic laws is the U.S. Uniform Traffic Code, which isn't law but an example intended to make different states' traffic laws reasonably similar.

  3. Every states are different. You have to be specific in order for us to understand.

  4. There are Federal crimes, state crimes, and local crimes (city/county, etc.). Each state and town has its own criminal code, what's a crime in one state or city may not be so in another, or multiple states and cities may consider one particular thing a crime but have different punishments for it.

In addition to the Federal criminal laws, you would have to look up the criminal code for each state and each city you want to know about.

  5. Check the laws of every single state and city in the country as they all are different!
