  1. A term of hate used to denigrate anyone who refuses to ingest and assimilate the media pabulum and think for ourselves.

  2. A name scared liberals call conservatives.

  3. a neo con is a former socialist/liberal new to conservative ideas. jean Kirkpatrick was one.

  4. Literal meaning is "new" conservative.  Came out of a group of former liberals who became disenchanted with the Democratic Party after Vietnam.  They came up with an infamous website that has since been pulled called the Project For the New American Century.  (PNAC)  They believe in an aggressive foreign policy.  As most are Jewish, part of the manifesto gained notoriety for pledging to defend Israel.  Leading members include Bill Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, Robert and Frederick Kagan, and former members of Bush's White House Douglas Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, and Richard Perle.  These figures have been blamed for getting Bush to invade Iraq in an effort to aid Israel by knocking off an old enemy.  The neocons along with the lobby group AIPAC want Iran attacked to safeguard Israel against a possible nuclear attack.  The key controversy is whether the neocons put Israel before the US in terms of importance.  On here, neocon is used as short hand for a conservative that supports Bush's foreign policy and the unpopular aspects of his administration.

  5. Someone who want to rule the world as long as it not them are there kids that are dying in there wars.

  6. A "neo con" stands for neoconservative. "Neo" is Latin for "new", so it stands for "new conservatism."

This is a term that was invented by a German political scientist (I forget his name). Quite simply, a "neo con" is someone who believes that foreign policy ought to be the first priority of a national government. I hope this helps.

  8. Basically a "Neo-con" is a 1960s liberal....it is another word for "Reagan Democrat".

Prior to 1960 the Democratic Party was a very different place. People like Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston, and Bill Bennet were all, at one time, Democrats. This was in the day the Democratic Party was still friendly with Catholic Bishops and the military.  Lots of Republicans were liberal too back then...just not quite a liberal as Democrats, (Google "Nixon Wage and Price Controlls." or an example.  Believe it or not the guy who was in charge of that was a young buck called d**k Cheney.)

At this time, back in the 60s, "Conservative" was someone like George Wallace, (or today Pat Buchanan).

Then the young left wing of the Democratic party took over the party, and the party got crazy.  First the Vietnam war put the Democratic Party against the U.S. Military. Then Roe v. Wade put the Democratic Party against the Catholic Church. Then came Watergate and these people found themselves in charge. The first "Energy Crisis" was the result, and the "nuclear freeze" and the "hollow military" of the Carter years, g*y rights, and all sorts of other things.

All the people who still believed in things like the military, God, etc. all found they were less and less welcome in the Democratic Party. (Bob Casey, the Govenor of Pennsylvania, was not allowed to speak at the Democratic National Convention because he was pro-life.) At First these people stayed Democrats and voted for  Nixon and then  Reagan...then they just started leaving the Democratic party.

Since the Democrats had gone so far to the left, these people now found themselves on the right. They hadn't changed their views...the Democratic Party had changed.  So they weren't Democrats anymore...but they weren't wacked out racist right wingers like Pat Buchanan or George Wallace either, so they didn't want to be called "Conservative"....and it didn't really fit anyway.  So what happened is these people,  started being called "Neo-Conservatives".  (For "new Conservatives")  The people on the far right like George Wallace  got called "Paleo-Conservatives".

Over time "Neo-Conservative"  got shortened to "Neo-Con."  A good example of a Neo-Con is someone who subscribes to National Review.

They believe in a strong military, they believe in God, they believe in gun rights and the Constiution, but they aren't racisit and they support Israel.  (Paleo-Conservatives are very often anti-semetic.)

Over time "Neo-Conservative" got shortened to "Neo-Con".  It got picked up in the blogs. A lot of people on the left saw that was used to describe Cheney and Bush, so they  started to use it as an insult, but as you can see lots of them don't even know what it means or where it comes from...they just know that it is used to describe Bush and Cheney so they figure it must be something bad.   Not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

  9. NeoConservative. A liberal that pretends to be a conservative.
