I was looking for UC entrance requirements, and i found this website. I didn't find what i wanted. However, I found something that i didn't get. And that was the concept of "UC Score Total". What is it? and what does it have to do with my getting into college?

Any other tips related to a really good UC entrance from high school will be greatly appreciated.

There is no secret about getting into UC's.  Earn great grades in the most rigorous subjects you can take and get great test scores.  Extracurriculars will help a bit - but your grades and SAT scores are the most important.

  2. It used to be that there was a minimum SAT score and GPA combination that made a student UC eligible.  The higher the student's GPA, the lower the required SAT score.   Since there is a lot more competition to get into the system than there was 30 years ago, I don't if this really matters much anymore. You'll need a lot more than the minimum.    Berkeley and UCLA are the most competitive.

  3. the UC score total is the score they calculate using your SAT/ACT score and GPA. Theres a conversion chart that tells you how many points you get per GPA point, or per score you get on your SAT/ACT. Its really confusing, so its easier to calculate your admittance chance by using the average GPA and the average SAT score that can be found on www.collegeboard.com. basically the UC score total is just a way for them to calculate how much of a priority your admittance is.

There are alot of tips that will help you get into a UC.

First off, dedicate your time and take all the honors classes your school has to offer. This will boost your GPA, and put you ahead in alot of the competition.

Take a summer job, and volunteer, and join clubs! alot of clubs don't involve much time,b ut look GREAT on college applications. Getting a summer job shows the UC schools that you can use your time productively (and you'll get money!), and volunteering shows that you take time out of your life to support your community.

Other than that, just stay focused on school, and you'll have no problem getting in.
