  1. Blue ray is high def and the normal ones are just standard definition. you need a hd tv to play blue ray though...

  2. blue ray looks so sharp and so real that it looks like its not even tv. it looks like you're looking at the actual location itself.

  3. theres a HUGE difference!

    starting from the definition

    IT has a perfect picturee.

    its better than HD DVD

  4. Its just rendered specifically for HD TV output.

Other DVDs are meant for standard Tv's..

Even if you upgrade the quality with the converters, its still not the same quality as a Blu-ray..

For some who are less anal about it, the quality isn't THAT much different.

Not as much when VHS was upgraded to DVD.

DVD- Blu ray is just a minor improvement.

  5. the color blue holds more info due to a higher frequency, in other words say u take an inch of red light and an inch of blue light, the bluelight is more condensed and can store more data

  6. blue ray is high definition

    DVD is normal definition

Blue ray is crisper, clearer, brighter, better in every way.

  7. It can hold whole bunch more information than normal DVD allowing higher resolution and more contents. Blue laser is supposed to make finer point, smaller dot which allow it to read more compacted information. Typical DVD or any other optical devices use red(ruby) lasers.

  8. Blue ray DVD's can only be played using a Blue Ray DVD player. The difference in the player is it uses a Blue Laser Diode, which has a different wave length than a standard DVD laser. This allows you to cram more data onto a single DVD. Blue ray DVD's hold about 25-50gb of data, where as normal DVD's only hold up to 8gb. As far as movies, blue ray is in HD.

  9. Blu-Ray uses a blue laser to read a disc with much higher density pits and lands, so it has roughly 5x the capacity (25-50GB) compared to DVD  (4.7 - 8.4GB).

It has enough storage for full-length 1080p movies. Blu-Ray supports new codecs, including AVC (H.264) and VC-1, which offer better quality and efficiency than MPEG-2 as used on DVD.

Blu-Ray also has a much richer user interface based on Java.

  10. Blue ray DVD can store huge data about 80GB whereas normal DVD can store 4.2GB. that is the main difference between this two DVD.

other things are same as in normal DVD.

and 1 more thing is that BRD can burn faster than normal

  11. basically blu ray is a way better and sharper picture.  check out the web site i posted. it will give you details about it.
