Question:

What is a "credit week" for unemployment compensation?

I applied for unemployment and received the determination letter today. It said I am uneligible for benefits because I don't have 16 or more credit weeks during my base year.

If I've been continually employed for the last 5 years by the same company, what does this mean?

  1. They are saying that you have not worked enough to qualify.   Perhaps you did not work enough hours each week.  If it were me, I would take my pay stubs for the last 5 years down to the unemployment office and ask them to explain to you why you do not qualify.
