  1. Domain names:

  2. As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

One of these services is reachable at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . As an experienced webmaster I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. Their service is really great and easy to use. This company also offers "Free Site Builder" that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. 3. It is the text version of an IP address. Example, The IP address for google is 216.239.39.99. The domain name for google is www.google.com

  4. "A domain name is essentially a signpost on the Internet. Almost every website you've ever been to, and every email you've ever composed, has used a domain name in its address."

    www.yahoo.com is a domain name.

    www.google.com is a domain name.

You can register one under your name, or whatever you want to call it & you can make a website/webpage to serve whatever you want.

  5. its the name of the .com site you go to, but YOU make up the name..its your created website

  6. A domain is the name of your website like www.yoursite.com . I use hostmonster webhosting since they offer free domain with their webhosting

    http://www.hostmonster.com/track/hostmon...

  7. A good way to explain the domain, is the part before the .ca or .com. If you got your own domain you could call it what you wanted. For example it would be: www.yourdomain.com. You require a domain name if you are going to host your own website.

  8. www.domainname.com  It's your website address.  You have to build (or have someone else build) your website.  Then, you have to have it hosted.

  9. a domain is like www.example.com.

  10. The best way I can think of to describe a domain name is "its your own piece of online real estate. Once you own a domain name like www.example.com, no one else can own it.

I would be careful about Yahoos 1.99 promotion and heres why.I had 9 domain names through Yahoo. Even though you can buy the name for $1.99 (all you get is the name,no web support, etc) .The renewal  after 1 year is $32 which is 3 times the price of a regular renewal rate. Go daddy charges $9.99 for domain names and 9.99 for each renewal.

You can do what ever youlike with your domain names as long as its legal.

  11. a domain name is basically the name of a particular website for example www.yahoo.com , where here the yahoo is the domain name, now anything after a domain name is a "directory", for example www.yahoo.com/mail , here the "mail" is the directory, which means the particular path you follow to reach a particular application in the website (mail application in this example).

yes offcoarse you can create a domain of yourself by simply creating a website if you know how, or calling a company to do it for you, you can do whatever you want with it including the introduction of buyers and sellers together...I actually havent seen the yahoo 1.99$ offer to tell you, but you might wanna do some research when deciding to create a website, it has to be done professionally to attract customers and it should look good if your planning to get some money out of it...
