I was reading about the International Vale Tudo Championships in Wikipedia, which is basically MMA with minimal rules. Some of the rules listed are no biting, no eye gouging, and no fishing hook.

What is a fishing hook? I tried to google it but only got results related to fishing (for fish).

  1. Its when you stick your finger/fingers inside of a person's open mouth and "hook" their cheek with your fingers.

You can pull their head around, cause damage to the cheek...etc.

  2. Sounds like a brave move, if someone did that to me I'd bite their freakin finger clean off!

  3. The term is "fish-hooking".

These guys have it right. You're curling your index finger and hooking it in your opponent's cheek.  It's illegal because you could rip their face open.

(Wow, I'm going to have to watch "Gangs of New York" again.)

  4. Curl your index finger and shove it inside the opponent's mouth, then you can drag them around by their cheek.

  5. as stslavik said using a finger or fingers to pull on the cheek or nose of your opponent with the intent to rip the cheek or nose apart. Leo DiCaprio does it in one of his first fights in gangs of new york.

To english (as first language) speakers it would be called fish hooking and you may have a better result when you google that term.
