Ooohhhhh.  Thanks for asking that darn tootin.  when i googled foundling i got a bunch of fondling stuff so i quickly ended my search.  I always wanted to know what it meant.

I is an older term it refers to an abandoned baby.  Many religious institutions use to take in babies that the mother could not take care of.  The drop of was usually anonymous.
