What is a "land Baron"?

"if someone says "be a land baron" what does that mean?

It's the same thing as a landlord but it's a person who owns a lot of land.  The term was mostly used  pre-twentieth century at a time when a few men owned large parcels of land and had many people living and working the land for them.  The people who worked the land was often called share croppers.
