There are over 400 in the United States. Pennsylvania has over 35 alone.

The College of William & Mary, one of the most prestigious universities in the country, located in Virginia, is a liberal arts school.

  3. There are two classifications for college/university types; National Universities and Liberal Arts Colleges.  US News and World report have a yearly ranking of both types.  See the following link for the definition, its about half way down the page.

  4. Liberal Arts colleges do not have a strong emphasis in math or science, so if they offer any courses in these areas, they are basic courses.  You could not get an engineering degree for example, at a liberal arts school.
