  1. jask.. you are only partially correct..... and that goes to show that "patt" isnt as up on their "safty concerns" as they claim..just another special interest group against truckers..founded by someone who lost a loved one in a truck accident..

    here the whole answer...

the zone in front of a semi...cars so small there has to be space so tail lights can be seen

a good portion of the passenger side of a semi....that a car can not be seen in the mirros

a small portion on the drivers side of a semi that a car cant be seen in the mirrors

a  distance behind a semi that a car cant be seen in the mirrors...

these are also known as the semi's BLIND SPOTS.....

the name "no zone" has been developed in order to draw more attention to these areas to help increase safty on the roads, and educate the general public as to the sight lines from the drivers seat of a semi.

  2. The area to stay away from at all times....

  3. It's the area to the rear and passenger side of a large vehicle, where it is hard to spot a car.  You should avoid being in that area.

  4. The other contributors make some good points.

Yes, large trucks have many Blind Spots.......and you don't want to drive in these "no zones"

If you are passing a semi, do it promptly, don't lag along in cruise control mode, and don't slow down when you make that right lane change in front of it.

Also make sure you can see the entire semi's front end in your rear view (not side view) mirror before attempting to make that right lane change. Also watch for the idiot behind you who might just cut you off on the right before you lane change to the right (so SHOULDER CHECK).....

If you are following a semi, then make sure you can see his side mirrors. If you can't see his side mirrors, then he can't see you.

When travelling on high speed roads, keep an eye on the vehicles in front of that semi too, because that semi might have to make a sudden lane change right in front of you.......
