What is a raincheck =s?

EXAMPLE= I go to the store to buy a radio on sale - the store is sold out of that radio so they give me a raincheck

That's a slip of paper that says when they get the radio back in stock - I have the right to buy it (using my raincheck) at the sale price

Make sense? Rainchecks apply to whatever item you wanted to buy that isn't available at the time so you get the same sale price :)

something that you say when you cannot accept someone's invitation to do something but you would like to do it another time. I'll take a rain check on that drink tonight, if that's all right. (often + on) I won't play tennis this afternoon but can I get a rain check?
