ok so my cat loves being outdoors, but he can never keep a collar on. i have gone through many collars and id tags and recently he has been going "naked" but just the other day someone thought he was a stray and he got stuck in the shelter. safecat isn't very good because he stretches them out, but i like the how it clips.

links appreciated!

  1. Safecat is a good collar because then your cat will not hang itself if it gets caught on something.  The ones that don't stretch could possible harm your cat if it becomes caught on a fence or tree.  If your cat goes outside I would still stick with the safecat but perhaps try a different size.  Good luck.  Another option would be to keep kitty indoors. :)

  2. Of course they check cats for microchips! Even birds are getting chipped these days!

  3. Try the nylon coated collars. They are durable and last a long time. However, I don't think they have the cat safety catch on them like others do. They only come in dog collars, but you might find one small enough for your cat.

  4. I put a ferret collar on my kitty, its like a light harness and simple, they do have them for cats too, see link below.. PLEASE  don't ever leave your cat outside tied up alone they are sitting ducks for mean dogs or other cats, they wont be able to get away have heard to many stories over the years where this happen.  GOOD LUCK http://www.thecatconnection.com/page/TCC...

  5. my mom put this purple collar on her cat little miss and it hasn't come off since we got her! it's called "the safety collar" it has a bell to! you can buy it at wal-mart! for about $5 idk! wel good luck

  6. tattoo and microchips stay on pretty d**n good.

  7. We used to have the same problem; our cat Benji went through a safety clip collar at least once a week, and we got so many phone calls from neighbors saying they found the collar.

One day we discovered the safety stretch collars, that stretch instead of open to let the cat out. These make it really hard, or nearly impossible for the cat to take off, yet lets the cat out if it is caught on a branch or something. Benji's used this safety stretch for over three months now, and we have never needed to replace one, meaning he hasn't taken it off yet. These are really common, ask the pet store you usually go to if they have them
