What is a really high end video card?

pci e and will support many things including direct x 10

and will run most games i saw the nvidia gforce 6800 is that any good?

something 100 bucks or less?

nothing is even close to high end and is even near the 100 dollar range.

everything starts from about 250 at the lowest to be considered medium ranged.

high end dx10 costs 400 to 600 dollars.

and the 6800 doesn't run dx10 and it was good 5 years ago. but that's it.  it sucks now.

To run most games, get a 8800 GT or 9600 GT.

those are well over your 100 dollar mark, and is only medium/low range.  but it will run most games.

a really high end card will cost you over $400.00

the 6800 is old and crappy

the best thing you can get for $100 if you shop around is an 8800gt. (These are a good gaming card though)

You will need a pci-e slot and a 400watt or higher power supply

The 6800 was highend about 3-4 years ago.

Right now the highest card is the GX 260/280 from nvidia. The HD 4870 is the highest from ATI

For $100 or less you can get a nvidia 9500 or ATI HD 3650

For DX10 you'll need Windows Vista. DX10 does not support XP.

you can get a mid-high end card like the 8800gt for about 100 after rebates if you look.

Check the link below...  There are fundamental flaws in their higher-end chips...  SERIOUS flaws...  The scuttle is that even when NVIDIA gets these problems fixed, they have so many chips already produced they are going probably "mix" the defective and non-defective chips into the products they ship with no indication via part number which cards contain the defective and which ones contain the revised chips.

A really high end video card would be the ATi 4870 or GTX 280.

With that price, you could get a Nvidia 9600 GT, It is DX10, great budget card:
