What is a reason two kids that are 4 years old would fight?

i dont understand...my daughter is 4 has a friend and they fight about everything u can think of....but her other friend ( that she also calls her boyfriend,lol) they never fight ....they are super nice to each other and everything....

so i was wondering....would they fight b/c they are too much alike or what? i was just wondering what the difference is between these two boys..

could it be that the boys get on well with each other and maybe your daughter is jealous of this friendship,so she fights with the other one who is not the " boyfriend"

They probably have clashing personalities.

But they are 4. They probably don't know why themselves.

maybe the other is more attune to her and has the same temperament as her. My son is 4, he gets along with other kids and has fights with others. Sometimes he likes to tease or simply annoy a certain playmate because he finds her reactions amusing. My boy tends to invade their space and toys without asking. But he wouldn't do that with his other friends. They could be each other's yin and yang or fire and ice;

Such fights are normal for their age, as they try to learn to deal with other people especially within their age group. As long it doesn't turn into hurtful, violent behavior, you shouldn't worry much. You can also try to both sit down with them and be a sounding board during their fights. You might get to discover the smaller details that sets the two off fighting.

They don't understand reasoning at 4, its just the way it is at four. Some don't like to share, if they are both only children often it is that they just don't know how to socialise.  Socialising is a skill, it must be learned, it doesn't come naturally. Just like we don't like particular people, 4 years olds don't necessarily like each other either
