I've been working at my current job for almost a year. I'm still at minimum wage. I am the best tech guy in the store, and have become the general "go-to" guy for any questions or tasks not directly involving a manager. We have yearly reviews, and mine is coming up soon. How high of a raise should I ask for?

Thank you guys in advance.

  1. depends on what area you live in and the job market there.  If the market is bad and there is a lot of unemployment your employer may try to give you a raise like .25-.50 cents an hour.  If the market is better you can probably expect somewhere around 1.00 and hour more since you are currently making minimum wage and you are still relatively new in the workforce.  If you talk to your manager and you decide you are not happy with what they offer your best bet is to actively look for a better job and after you find one then give notice.  If they offer you more money after you give notice, don't stay because then down the line they will begin to treat you in the manner that you weren't worth the raise and that they only did it so you wouldn't quit, not because they truly value you as an employee.  good luck
