Hi. I'm not much of a car person. I currently have a 82 fairmont futura that i am planning to sell. It has about 43,000 mi and the interior is in excellent condition. It has decent tires, runs well, and has new brakes and muffler. My dad said he thought $1000 would be reasonable but to look it up in kelly blue book but the on-line version only goes back to 88. what do you think is a reasonable price? I'm selling it in Iowa City Ia if that matters at all. thanks

  1. Usually anything over 10 years old is exempt on the miles.  However it probably has over 100,000 miles.

Either way.  There NO, O, zipo, nota, nothing demand for that car.  You would be lucky to get $500.00

It would probably bring $300-$400 at a scrap yard.

  2. Was the milage rolled over? 43,000 is very low for an '82.

I would agree with your dad, ask $1000 for it. Actually, you could ask $1500, and let the person offer you $1000, you get what you want, they think they are getting more of a bargain.

My dad used to have one, it was a decent car.

  3. ask for a little more than a grand...and then work from there...the person may say hey ill give you twelve hundred!! see, you made a little more money
