What is a reliable site to get a copy of a birth certificate?

My son lost his and we would like to obtain a new one for travel perposes. Does anyone know of a reliable site to get one?

  1. Make sure it's a government website and ends in .gov. I'd be leary of anything else.  


  2. if you are in the USA, go to http://www.cyndislist.com/births.htm#Sta... and link to vital records for whatever state he was born in

We had to get one for my SO earlier this year and after googling and finding a site instead of using the internet ordering we called  the county records where he was born and ordered over the phone and had in in a few days.  If you  stil live where your son was born just go in  to the county records department and request one.

  4. go to the county recorders office in the county where the birth took place. you can usually get a copy on the spot for like 20 dollars. here in OC it is in santa ana. look it up for your county

  5. The hosptial where he was born is the most reliable. BTW you should always have an off site copy of any and all important papers (ie birth papers, deeds, contracts...etc)

  6. You can, but it will cost you more than if you done it yourself and there is no way to varify their credibility. Check the link provided.
