I'm looking for the Nike or Adidas of snowboarding. I'll be willing to accept the Puma or Asics of snowboarding as well. You're awesome if you can include a website that will allow me to view products. Thanks.

  1. Burton is the Nike or Adidas of snowboarding.

Burton boards are great if you can afford to drop the dollars to a high to med. level board, but since you're asking this, you're probably a beginner and could do fine with a beg. board.  In that case, don't go with Burton for boards.  However, their bindings are excellent.  Don't get Flows if anybody tells you to.  I've heard that their disadvantages outweigh their advantages.

    k2 have some good stuff.

Nitro is becoming a pretty well respected brand.

    Ride is ok.

    Forum is decent.

Capita is only good for park from what I've heard, and then Rome is better.

Rome boards are really good for park.

People seem to like any board with Magne Traction. (Wavy edges for better hold in icy conditions.)

Check out Transworld Snowboarding's Good Wood test too.

  2. Burton, Ride, Gnu, Pamler

  3. If you are looking for something other than Burton (the Starbucks of the snow industry), as far as boards go, check out:

Burton makes some great products but if you are looking for something not so toolish, check out the above sites.

For Boots, you know Nike and Adidas does make a snowboard boot.....

But as far as boots go:

    Bindings:

If you would like me to keep going I will.  Just ask :)

All of the above mentioned are respected companies that make some great product.  They are not your standard Burton or Ride product.

    Good Luck!

  4. If your looking for the Nike or Adidas of snowboarding, I will have to agree with the other peeps. Burton is the best of the best. Jake Burton was one of the founders of snowboarding. go to : www.burton.com

to view Burton products. Burton is a bit pricey though. $300 for a Burton board it considered quite a good deal.

  5. I love Nitro boards. They are a good quality technical board. I have used their lowest end women's board for over 3 seasons and it is still a good board. When I first got it, I was able to turn much more easily, it was fantastic. They are not as popular as Burton, but they are a very good board, something more unique, and definitely worth looking into. They have a size/weight chart for each board and it also shows what type of riding they are best for, etc. I highly recommend them. Oh, and the company is still owned by the same guys who started it years ago, so they haven't sold out to some large corporation. The owners are still very involved with product development, and they really care about the sport and the products they are producing.

  6. EVERYONE IS GONNA SAY BURTON

    (great)

    whatever happened to Ride snowboards?

I think the boards from burton are cool, but the bindings are awesome (i dont own a thing burton but they dont suck)

Nitro boards are sooo cool, K2's are ok, GNU (VERY GOOD)

LAMAR kinda sucks and 5150 snowboards are actually pretty decent (they are kinda hush hush but try them)

  7. Burton is the best!!

  8. Burton!  I have a Burton board and I absolutely love it!
