I am looking for a great place to watch the sunset in San Francisco-- if there is a restaurant that has a great view [and isn't extraordinarily expensive] that you can suggest for dinner that would be great.

Also, if you know of any parks where it will be nice to have a picnic lunch and fly a kite in San Francisco that would also be wonderful! Great views are a plus!

  1. i like pier 49 personally

its not fancy at all, its cheap, has a pretty view, and i love sealions

plus ocean sunsets are the best

  2. Right, like spiritsf said, The Cliff House or The Beach Chalet. If you go to either, you can fly a kite at Ocean Beach.

  3. umm yes there is this restaurant called "mc donalds" very good view, it is on the street of 45th and clover

  4. The Equinox at the top of the Hyatt is a revolving restaurant that gives you a 360 view of the city and it's not toooo pricey...Beautiful.

PS: Golden Gate park is a great place to picnic...

  5. The Cliff House is on the west side of town overlooking the Pacific, there is a burger place just up the hill from it too. Both meet your "not gonna break ya" requirement. You could also head south to Pacifica and hang at the Taco Bell on the beach. A little further and you can hit the Moss Beach Distillery in ....Moss Beach (it's a bit north of of Half Moon Bay). Even Better is the Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay, also overlooking the Pacific blue.

A park in SF...let's see... oh yeah Golden Gate Park. The Marina Green is the best though...no trees.

Back to the sunset. The absolute best spot is at Skates in Berkley. It is on the Bay with a view of the GG Bridge and the sunset.

For the picnic I suggest the parks around the Embacradero Centers. You will be squawked at by the flock of wild parrots. There is a Safeway at the foot of Jackson St or my fav is the falafel place at the foot of Sacramento across from the Hyatt.

For Chocolate you go to the Ghirradeli store on Stockton by Union Square.

There is a Kosher place just past the entrance to Chinatown at Grant and Bush.

If you head towards the Castro the place to eat is Chow on Church St. a few doors down from Market.

I have never been in the City though, what could I know?

  7. the beach chalet or the cliff house
