Question:

What is a return commitment?

My friend is currently in jail awaiting his court date, which is tomorrow. His court date is for "application to revoke". I guess he didn't meet the guidelines of his probation. I was looking at his docket information online and today they entered "Return commitment". What exactly does that mean? Does that mean they are already planning to send him back?

Thanks!

  1. You are correct that he did  something to violate his probation. That is the "application to revoke".

The "return commitment" simply means he is being brought back to court for an old charge, not being charged with a new crime.

I hope this helps and you can find it useful
