    In a tire retread shop/plant tire tread comes in rolls. The roll changer is the guy who measures, and chooses the tread width to match the tire casing, and then matches the the type of tread to the customers request.

    He then takes the correct roll of tread to the machine, which fits it to the tire casing. Hope this helped.
