  1. Here are some ideas...

For Face: If you have any blemishes, or areas of redness on your face, they can easily be erased:

Dab a concealer stick ( Covergirl in fair works for most people) over any blemishes or redness. (Don't use a lot of this.)

Using a cosmetic wedge, Blend in the concealer with a little bit of foundation that matches your skin. Covergirl TruBlend or Covergirl clean makeup are my favorites.

To seal this look in for the day, use a kabuki brush and a loose powder, like L'Oreal trumatch, And dust lightly over the face.

    For Eyes:

Playing up your eyes is easy for any color.

    For all shades:

Use a champagne-y or goldish shimmery shadow and apply from lashline to crease. Use a highlight eyeshadow (usually an iridescent shade of white, pale pink or very pale gold) and apply on the inside corner (over the tearduct) of the eyes, and a little under the arch of the brow. This helps to accentuate your eyes.

Use a thin liner on the top lid (on the bottom too for nighttime looks) in the following color:

Blue eyes: Chocolate brown, Bronze-y liquid liner

    Green/Hazel Eyes: Eggplant purple, plum

Brown eyes: Olive Green, Chocolate Brown

When you play up your eyes like this, it's best to do a neutral lip. If you have darker skin, use a tannish pink, if you lave lighter skin, use a peachy gloss.

  2. I first exfoliate my skin with a loofah in the shower in the morning. This removes bacteria and flaking/dry/dead skin and also prevents blemishes. Then I cleanse my skin with a cleanser and water - most cleanser I've tried are great, just make sure to choose one soft and gentle on the skin - but one that clears away all the grime. Then I lightly moisturize my skin - lightly, not so it will grease up my face. I wait for that to dry then apply foundation.

For foundation or concealer I use mineral products (L'Oreal Bare Naturale is best, it's cheap, long-wearing and it covers redness, discoloration, spots, or what have you), because they tend to last longer (for me, anyway) and look like you aren't wearing any makeup, just that your face is naturally flawless. Apply this with a fat brush (this comes with a brush but you can also use a kabuki brush, which is a .. well, it's a fat brush, they're great and make the most of the powder). I also use foundation on my eyelids (using a smaller brush) for where I want to apply eyeshadow (when I do apply it, I usually don't) - so the eyeshadow will stay longer. Make sure after using foundation you set it with a translucent powder/veil. What I do is then spritz water over my face to set it even more. (just fill an empty perfume bottle with water and spray your face less than five times all over). This way it will stay on for hours longer. If you want, you can also use a primer before applying your foundation, this is another thing you can do to make it stay longer.

If you want you can use blush, I usually don't but if I'm feeling sick it does brighten up my face considerably. I use a light rose/pink color, make sure the color isn't too drastic for your skin (don't use a bright pink or red unless you want to look like a stage actor!). Apply it when smiling to the apples/fattest parts of your cheeks. Alternatively to blush you may use bronzer (most choose one or the other - blush accentuates cheeks, bronzer hides cheeks). Don't get too dark or orange of a color for this either or it's obvious. Suck your cheeks in, and apply it to the hollow of your cheeks to make them appear thinner. You should apply these BEFORE translucent powder because otherwise they won't last as long as the foundation and will wear off in a couple of hours.

Use a black eyeliner right on my upper lashes (only upper), to make them seem thicker. Use white eyeliner on my waterline/above the bottom lashes to make my eyes seem bigger. I usually don't wear mascara, but I use L'Oreal Voluminous when I do, because it doesn't flake and makes my lashes thicker and longer. If you do not have black lashes make sure you get a brown/dark brown eyeliner pencil instead of a black one as it will make it seem more natural (same with mascara, use a lighter color). Apply an eyeshadow within a couple of tones from my skin color, usually a dark beige/light brown color - enough so it looks natural but shows off my eye color.

For lips you should exfoliate before doing anything with them. Wet your toothbrush's bristles and scrub your lips. Not to the point of them bleeding, but enough so the blood flows to them and causes them to turn red and for dry skin to flake off. Then wipe off the skin with a towel. You may also use a wet towel for this but in my opinion a toothbrush works better. Then apply a cherry chapstick, rose colored lipstick, or light red/pink chapstick to complete the look. To make your lips look bigger, use lipliner within a couple of shades the color of the lipstick (make it darker than the lipstick, not lighter). Then use clear or lighter colored gloss around the center of your bottom lip. To make your lips look smaller, use a darker colored lipstick/gloss than usual. Lipstick makes your lips look smaller usually; lip gloss bigger.

Keep in mind that LESS is more; you don't NEED to use all of these things - in fact, I recommend you don't use all of them. Lipbalm/chapstick for lips, foundation in the right places and eyeliner are the only necessary ones to use to look better. Lips, skin, eyes - need I elaborate more than that?

  3. The key is to find colours that look good for your colouring...and always make sure your foundation is the closest you can get to your natural skin colour...test it on your jawline and step outside the shop into daylight to see if the colour blends well.

Once you have the right tools...only ever apply foundation to the areas you need it...never all over your face like a moisturiser...just use it in areas you want some extra coverage...I use it on my cheeks only. Use a cheek tint instead of cream/powder blushers...benefit's benetin is the best known - if you have fair skin they've just launched a lighter version called posie.

Leave lips bare with just some lipbalm...use a cream coloured eyeshadow (if any!) and a thin coat of mascara...or for super natural just coat lashes in vaseline...use vaseline on brows to define them and a light dusting of a translucent powder to keep shine at bay...

    And voila you're done!

For a natural looking night time look just add more mascara and either some eyeliner or a lipstick...that's an either or...never both!!
