  1. a run-on is a sentence with not enough or wrongly place puncuation and a fragment is a sentence with no subject

  2. run on is when the sentence seems to be going on forever... but a fragment is when u read a sentence and its like. wait somethings missing here....

    ex:

My brother loves drawing and whenever you see him he is constantly drawing that is probably why he doesn't do too well in school.

    and fragment ex:

    The big dog barking loudly

    hope it helps...=)))

    take care

    =)

  3. a run on sentence is like one with a bunch of and's in it...

    like

we ran and jumped and played and swam and ate

    yeah...

    and a fragment is like...

    the state building.

    so there ya go

  4. A complete sentence contains a subject (noun or pronoun) and a verb.  (It may also contain an article such as "a," "an," "the" before the noun.)  While it may contain other words such as adjectives and adverbs, they are not necessary for a complete sentence.  Example of a complete sentence: "The boy cried."

So a fragment is a part of a sentence that contains only a subject OR a verb.  Example: "The boy"  or "cried." And just because the fragment is longer with adjectives and adverbs still does not make it a complete sentence unless subject and verb are BOTH there.

A run-on is just the opposite.  It contains two or more subjects and verbs without the benefit of proper conjunctions like "and" or proper punctuation like commas or semi-colons. Example: "The boy cried he ran home he told his mother that another boy hit him."

    Hope this helps.

  5. A run-on sentence is a sentance that lacks proper punctuation, and in turn the sentence turns into one long, droning, never-gonna-stop wall of text. Pretty much, its one sentence that should be split into two.

A fragment is a very short 'sentence' that doesn't make grammatical sense. Example:

    Dog jumped.

The correct way is, "the dog jumped".

  6. A run on sentence has two or more independent clauses and no punctuation (besides an ending mark). It needs a semicolon or comma plus a coordinating conjunction to fix it.

Example: "I took the car he took it too."

Correction: "I took the car; he took it too." or "I took the car, and he took it too."

A fragment is part of a sentence incorrectly punctuated as if it were a whole sentence.

    Example: "Looking for a friend!"

Correction: "I am looking for a friend!"
