Question:

What is a safe and effective way to remove your mascara?

Every night I just take a wash cloth, damp it, put a little soap on it, and rub my eyelid and eyelashes. But when I do that, my eye gets red, and it feels tingly afterwards. If there any other ways I can remove my mascara without my eye turning red?

  1. No!  No rubbing!  That is the worst thing that you can do to some of the some of the most delicate skin on your body!  And I find soap to be wayyy to drying and harsh for the eye area, not to mention it stings.

    I use a eye makeup remover on a cotton pad, and gently swipe.  I like the oil-free Neutrogena stuff, and the Rimmel if you don't wear anything waterproof.  Though, I've heard GREAT things about the Sonia Kashuk remover.  They don't sell it here in Canada, but I would try it if I could.  The reviews for it in http://www.makeupalley.com is just absolutely raving.

    Some other cheaper remedies that I've seen people use and SWEAR by is using baby oil, Vaseline, or your regular facial lotion/moisturizer.  [=

    I hope this helps!

  2. Any balm that is petroleum-based will work beautifully.  Just put a small dollup on your closed eye (you don't need to use any water), rub it gently for about 10 seconds, and wipe off with a tissue.  If you don't like the greasiness that petroleum can leave behind, you can follow up by washing your face with your normal facial cleanser.

    I use Balms Away by The Balm:

    But regular old Vaseline will work just fine.

    --->Good Luck!

  3. Baby wipes! I am a mother and I wouldn't pick a different way to remove any of my makeup. And since they are for babies, it doesn't burn or anything

  4. Being rough on your eyes is very bad, you can get wrinkles and sagging prematurely.

    Almay moisturizing eye makeup remover pads remove mascara really good, just rub it lightly over your eye, top and bottom lid. Then, take a q-tip and remove eyeliner and mascara. You may have to work at it, but it works.

    Another way is to use a liquid makeup remover, but make sure that it does not say oil free bc it will be harder to remove mascara, and it won't remove waterproof mascara.

    Hope this helps!

  5. vaseline or petroleum jelly

    it takes out any makeup, really works :]

  6. It may sound funky but I use lotion on Q-tips. It works for eye liner too! :)
