I recently owned a Volvo 2006 XC90 and had an accident with it. I was doing about 60-70mph and hit a parked Semi on the highway. Amazingly I didn't even got one scratch. the car was not as damage as I thought would be for those speeds. So my advise would be get a volvo they are the strongest, reliable, and safest vehicles on the road.

matching the chosen vehicle's speed and direction to the situation,

aware of the risks inherent in the particular road and traffic situations,

acting to keep identified risks to a minimum,

aware of their own limitations and those of the chosen vehicle and roads

and skilful with the use of the controls

Attitude to other road users, speed and risk taking are good barometers as to how likely you are to protect your family as much as the safety features of a particular vehicle will protect you.

Consider putting some of your budget towards a course with a recognised Advanced Driving Institution's Program.
