Question:

What is a scalp contusion? MY MOM HIT ME?

My Mom hit my head 4 days ago and I still have a headache.

I went to the doctor and he acted like I didn't need a CAT scan and he gave me a paper that said "scalp contusion on it"

Do I have brain damage? I am so mad at my Mom for hitting me! I am so worried I have brain damage.

Do scalp contusions cause brain damage?

Does my headache mean I have brain damage??

  1. It's just a bruise to the scalp. It does not mean internal damage, and should go away after a few more days. Don't worry.

  2. Since the scalp is the skin that covers your head, and contusion refers to trauma, it sounds like you have a bruise on your head.

If you have brain damage, it wouldn't necessarily hurt.  During brain surgery, you're kept awake so that the surgeons know what parts of the brain they're messing with.

  3. You sound like a teenager...so, yes, you DO have brain damage.  Luckily, it isn't from your Mom hitting you, and it goes away slowly with age.

  4. The "scalp contusion" is beside the point. If you've had a serious headache 4 days, then get a second physician opinion. (You'll

have to describe the pain better , your activities, have a physical exam ,describe other poss symptoms, etc.) (I've been in the medical field a long and have never heard of a "scalp" contusion,I think

    there's a better term.)

  5. a scalp contusion is a bruise on your scalp. you probably don't have brain damage. just put ice on it.

  6. omg just shut up already you are giving ME a headache...

first of all a scalp contusion is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT HUNNY! sit down, breathe...calm little person...jeezzzzzz. a scalp contusion is just a bruise to the scalp with NO internal damage!!! that means you have no brain damage, your skull isnt even fractured and you are overreacting...a lot!!!

if you are really that worried then tell one of your friends...by the way why did your mom hit you???
