What is a scary novel?

I love horror novels, but have never been actually scared, any ideas?

If you want to be shocked and awed beyond your waking conception check out a thriller called BLOOD PROPHECY.

The first five pages will make your jaw drop and your eyes water with disbelief at what you're reading, much of which is based upon actual events. Vlad the Impaler....

Have you tried any Steven King novels like Carey or It.

If you really want one to scare you, though, you need to change the atmosphere so that your imagination will help you along. Try reading alone at night in a spooky area of your house with just the lamp's light illuminating the darkness.

I would highly recommend any of Edgar Allan Poe's horror novels.

Silvia Plath's "The Bell Jar". It involves psychotic behavior which can lead to it being "scary" but not exactly horror. Don't miss out, its a good one!
