  1. A screen is a quick one step drop for the qb who dumps it off to a wide receiver and the other receivers and the linemen release to go block for him....it also is used a lot more often with running backs where the line relases from their blocks right away so that they can form a wall for the running back to get behind and bust up the field.


  2. A screen pass is thrown quickly after snapping the ball usually very close to the line of scrimmage.

  3. It's a pass thrown behind the line of scrimmage, if its not the O-line cant go down field to block, which is the purpose of the screen. If its thrown to a RB,FB or TE the o-line will let the defenders by easily. If its thrown out to the WR then they will pull like the do on a running play. When the ball is caught the blockers run down field and pick off defenders, thus the"screen". Basically its like running behind the wedge on a kick off return.
