  1. I have one. It's sort of a hybrid between a normal performance board and a fish. It has a fairly broad, swallow tail, with a tapered, rocket nose and a lot more nose rocker than an average fish. Mine is is three fin 7'6" Action (yeah, I know it's real big, but I'm old & fat).

I am a fairly experienced surfer, I don't know if I'd call myself an 'expert', but I found it extremely fast and it took a couple sessions to get the hang of it. I don't ride it any more. there's nothing wrong with it, I have just bought a few boards that I like better.

I bought it after riding my 6'4" twin fin for about twenty years. I wouldn't recommend that design to a beginner (that is 'learner'), but if you are already surfing, it is a great design.

  2. A fish is easy to ride. Since you mentioned semi fish, it just means that the board has more rocker than a regular fish, which is essentially flat. Fish are best for mushy waves. A regular surfboard can be long, or a shortboard. A longer board, with a rounded nose, is easier for a beginner. But the length should coincide with your weight. A beginner can learn on a semi fish, or longer board. If you're looking at either, go to your local surf shop, or speak with a knowledgeable surfer friend before investing in a board.

  3. a fish is kinda like a short longboard. it has a round nose and not that much rocker. a semi fish has a little pointier nose and more rocker so it can perform more like a shortboard

  4. A fish is a great board to use when you are transferring to a shortboard from a longboard.

  5. called a beginner shortboard because it is wider and thicker, thus it is easier to paddle and catch waves with less effort. It is better for beginners than experts. The rails are softer and more forgiving while an expert wants boxier rails for digging in when making aggressive turns.
