I have been doing a lot of research about pollotarianism and vegetarians and I have herd the term "semi-vegetarianism" a few times. Could someone please give me some details about what it is?

  1. Semi-vegetarian my a**. You can't call yourself a vegetarian but 'make exceptions'. If you don't eat meat but under some circumstances or occasions you do, then you are not a vegetarian. You're a poser..someone who likes being called a vegetarian becuase perhaps they think it makes them look different or original or whatever...not because they either genuinly care about animal welfare and genuinly don't want to eat meat or just don't like it. Vegetarians don't make exceptions. I know some people who call themselves a vegetarian but eat fish and gelatine etc. I just wanna scream at them.

  2. say if you don't eat red meat but eat fish, you could be considered as a semi-vegetarian, but not really....

  3. The term semi-vegetarian was made up by uninformed idiots in my opinion.  If someone eats  both animal flesh and plant matter..they are  an omnivore.  Vegetarians do not eat animals ever so there is no such thing as being "semi".

Pollotarian is a form of omnivore and not a type of vegetarian.

  4. I called myself semi-vegetarian when I was still eating fish but no other animals not even chicken!

That is one type of semi-vegetarian.  There is the type who wants to be vegetarian but can't commit to it completely  they waiver off and on about it!

Some semi vegetarian might be vegetarian for a whole year then suddenly go back to eating some meat! or there's the type that is vegetarian parttime but picks at tid bits of meat!  Simply put a semi-vegetarian isn't really a vegetarian cause they eat meat part of the time! A true vegetarian never eats meat!

  5. One who very rarely eats meat, like one a month or so. Don't listen to the people who answer in a bashing way to those who don't share their opinions.

    Thumbs down from bigots? Expected.

  6. mostly it means that you only eat fish and poultry(birds like chicken and turkey). a lot of these people have given you the wrong information, by the way.

  7. That is all bull. Vegetaranism has one and only one meaning, there are no exceptions such as eating only fish or white meat. If a person only chooses to eat one type of meat, then they are not considered vegetarian by any means.

  8. There is no such thing.  There are vegetarians and there are non-vegetarians.  The vegetarians don't eat meat and the non-vegetarians do.  There is absolutely no in between.

Let's compare the word vegetarianism to virginity.  There cannot be a semi-virgin.  You can't have s*x once in a while and call yourself a virgin.  It's just not possible.

So in short, there is no such thing as a semi-vegetarian.

  9. sometimes people who still eat fish "pescetarians", but do not eat mammals are referred to as that

  10. Sorry, no such thing as semi vegetarian. You either are a veggie, or you're not.

    ''Semi vegetarians'' are omnivores.

If you eliminate fish, chicken and all other poultry, red meats, and by-products of slaughter, then you'll be a veggie.

  11. Their is no such thing. Your either vegetarian or not. I am since I was 5. People always say Yeah I am vegetarian, the only meat I eat is chicken.. Well lets see.. a vegetarian is someone who DOESNT EAT ANY MEAT. haha

  12. its could mean one of two things:

    1. it could mean that they are pescetarian, meaning they dont eat fish.

    2. they could be a little more loose with their food and meat choices. like a little chicken broth here, a little beef stew there. they try not to eat meat, but they arent so strict with it.

in my book, #2 shouldnt even call themselves a vegetarian at all.

  13. Semi-vegetarian is a made up term(much like pollotarian, flexatarian, etc). The "definition" of semi-vegetarian is basically that of an omnivore(someone who eats meat and vegetables).

From what I have seen, it is mostly a term that children use(since they seem to want some sort of recognition, without really making a real commitment). Most adults do not need to use a made up label for themselves, and are fine with just telling people they eat less meat, or eat according to what is recommended by most nutritionists, which is 2-3 three times per week.

  14. A poser.  Someone who wants the prestige of being a vegetarian but can't make the commitment.  A hack.  A wannabe.

  15. Usually, semi-vegetarian is a vegetarian who makes exceptions now and then.

There are also different branches of vegetarianism that can be considered semi-vegetarian. These are things like lacto-ovo vegetarianism, where you don't eat any meat, but do eat eggs/dairy.

  16. Presumably, it is someone who eats a vegetarian diet sometimes and not others.

It is kind of a silly designation, though; like semi-nonsmoker, semi-nondrinker, or semi-faithful-to-my-wife.

I don't know why they would need a title. Couldn't they just say they don't eat very much meat?
