  1. tones (steps): A B C D E F G

    semitones (half-steps): A# C# D# F# G#

each frett is a SHIFT OF 1 SEMITONE

    eg: 1st string:

    0:E

    1:F

    2:F#

    3:G

    4:G#

    ect.

Down 2 steps from standard (EADGBe) is DGCFAd

this is D-tuning, good for heavy metal, Nu metal, punk and a myriad of dirty genres.

    rock rock on

  2. yes,it's a half tone, so 4 semitones to tune down two notes.

  3. A good visual way to think of it is that a semitone is the distance between two frets on a guitar, or the distance between a white and black key on a piano (excluding b to c and e to f)

  4. A half step

  5. half step=semitone
