What is a shape, figure and what is the difference between some thing being 2dimensional and 3dimensional?

i'm just having trouble understanding what a shape is, like a paper for example, its not exactly 2dimensional like my teacher said, its a 3dimensional figure, its length may be a very small one but it still has a length so its 3dimensional right?

You are correct.  it is a three dimensional object.    If it were a 2 dimensional object it would disappear if you looked at it from the side.   Things that you observe have at lest 3 dimensions to them.
