What is a sheetrock finisher?

can someone please tell me what a sheetrock finisher does?what is their main job,i am looking for a job for my boyfriend and came across an add for sheetrock finisher.he is not around at the moment to ask him i know he can install sheetrock but don't know if a finisher is the same or something different that is done to the sheetrock.please help.

  1. Sheetrock or drywall is that plaster finish coated on both sides with paper that walls are finished with. It covers the the studs (the vertical) running 2x4's that hold the roof up. A sheetrock finisher tapes and plasters the joints, sands them smooth and reapplies plaster and sands it again until there is no discernable joint between the sheets and fills the spots where they were nailed to the studs. They are usually four feet wide by eight feet long and come in various thicknesses.

  3. Finishers would fill in and cover the joints and seams.  They apply textured topping compound if it is requested.  Both of these steps are done with a machine, so the finisher would operate the machine.

  4. If I remember right, a finisher goes back and tapes and textures the sheetrock.
