  1. A ship is generally steel not wood or fiberglass. Minesweepers are wood. The smallest I would consider a ship is a fishing vessel that is ocean going at least 80 feet long.

The saying is you can put a boat on a ship but you can't put a ship on a boat.

I work in a shipyard and we have a minimum size limit of 100 feet long but will make minor exceptions. Most ships are over 150 feet long.

  2. a big boat,

  3. if in water a ship is a boat of sorts...if it is in atmosphere...it is an air ship (plane)...if it is in space...it is a space ship...you surely are not serious though...right? I mean you already know this unless you are like three years old then you should be in bed...

  4. A vessel, esp. a large oceangoing one propelled by sails or engines.

  5. A ship is a thing that floats in water it's a new invention it's been in all the papers and on the news

  6. a vessel that floats on water.

  10. To answer your question maybe it is easiest if we think about the difference between a boat, a yacht, and a ship.  One definition that is often used is that you can fit a boat inside a ship but you cannot fit a ship inside a boat. A ship is a commercial vessel such as a passenger ship, a freighter or a tanker. A boat is smaller - could be a fishing boat, a dinghy, a sailboat, a row boat, etc., and could actually be fairly large. A yacht is a personally owned pleasure "boat", either a sail boat or a power boat, but is not a ship.  I hope this helps.

  11. A ship is a vessel large enough to carry boats. At least that is how the Navy defined them. Also a vessel meant for deep water navigation. A sailing vessel with 3 or more masts.

  12. What floats on water and can carry people and cargo?

  13. A boat becomes a ship after 300 feet.

  14. its the same thing as a boat
