Not how I see myself. I think it means someone who's a bit stupid or a looser. It's Yiddish. I don't understand the etymology, since a lot of Yiddish words have German origins and 's*****k' in German means jewellery (jewelry).

The word shmuck or schmuk seems to have originated in New York City and may be of Jewish (Hebrew/Yiddish) origin.  A shmuck is a politically bad person, as in, the Mayor is a shmuck for not doing something about clearing the snow and was then reffered to as a 'shmow ball'.

Not sure, but I think it's a Jewish word for a part of a female Camel's anatomy, the reason being, the last time I was out in Egypt and riding on a Camel, I distinctly heard a passer-by say to his friend "Look at that smuck on the Camel!"
