  1. wha were they thinkin? has the right answer. A show name is a horse's registered name (with an organization like the AQHA, APHA, etc.) or the name a person uses to enter their horse into a show if they aren't registered. I'll use an example of my friend's horse. His registered name was Gun Dunnett with the AQHA. So whenever she took him to shows, he was entered as Gun Dunnett. An unregistered horse that is entered into shows can use either their barn name (whatever they are usually called) or their owner could make up a "show name".

  2. well its kind of like how singers have stage names.

like the white rapper Emineim, his real name is Marshall Mathers.

so Emineim would be his "show" name(from a horse prespective) and Marshall would be his "barn" name.

  3. A show name is a name on the registered papers

  4. a show name is the horse's name on it's paper work that is used in shows. it usually doesnt change.

a barn name is the horse's nicname and can be anything/change.
