What is a simple gift for a platonic female friend who needs reminded that she's beautiful and worthwhile?

In short, I have a lovely lady friend (non-romantic) who recently lost her job. She lives in another part of the country, so taking her to dinner and such isn't possible. She's having money problems (as you can imagine), and feels as if she can't take care of herself or her children. I'm helping her out financially, but I want to get her a small something that reminds her that she's as beautiful and worthwhile now as she was before she hit this rough patch. Ladies, a little help here?

  1. Awww.. Okay. Let me put myself in her shoes... Hmm so she's having trouble taking care of herself and her children, so lets kinda get her something that is for taking care of herself, only no cosmetics or anything. Be sure to write her a letter.

How about... I thought this was cute http://www.gifts.com/search/product/Life...

but maybe a little too cheesy?

Haha i thought this was hilarious.

  2. If you really want to remind your friend that she is still beautifull just select her photo in her most cute appearance and send it to http://www.photoartomation.com. They will convert it into beautiful piece of art.  You can add text such as a personal message on top of the image. You can instruct them to send the artwork directly to the person you want! ! I'm sure your friend would love it very much.

  3. flowers are a great reminder and if you send them to her work everyone will be gushing over the flowers and who sent them and why...never go wrong with flowers.

  4. sounds 2 me like a self-esteem issue. there r classes that can help w/ this, & there's boox @ the local library 2 read on it. Best Wishes and God Bless you

  5. O.K. you have to find out if she is a flowers person or just a card person.  Personally I am both but make sure that you pick out just a plain nice card and write your own words on it.

  6. I'm a guy, and I applaud the help you choose to give her.

As for the gift, maybe something like a day at a Spa or something like that. Maybe fly over there and take her and her kids out to an amusement part. I'd think something material wouldn't be good.

Or flowers, like everone else said   =P

  7. Why not a nice candle and bath basket(beads bubble bath, etc)things she can use to pamper herself. I think a piece if ribbon, card stock , and make the tag for the gift and you write something simple on the card. Hope that helps you ...

  8. Not a Lady but have been where you are, flowers work great

  9. How about a note or an email saying basically what you just said here.

If I got a letter simply saying I was beautiful and worthwhile, it could make all the difference.

  10. You're very thoughtful to be concerned!

How about a "Believe in Yourself" anklet?  You can find it at:  http://www.greatmothersdaygiftideas.com/...

    Good luck!

  11. MAKEUP!!!!!

all women who want to be beutiful loves makeup!!!

or just get her like a sephora giftcard

    that would be lovely

  12. agree.. flowers are good for anyone.. or how about the fruit arrangements... those she can share with her kids

I wouldn't go for make up in this case.. That's for more festive occasions and you never know.. some people may take offense to it.. but on the other hand how about a gift certificate to a spa in her area... you may be able to look something up online.

  13. Find a spa or hair salon in her area, get her a gift card and send it to her in a nice "thinking of you" card. I promise, she'll love it!!

  14. Send her flowers...always a nice thing to do.  To keep it friendly send something in yellow.  No red roses.

  15. something a bit on the warm and fuzzy side would be good, like jewelry engraved with an encouraging message.
