  2. Inductive reasoning is inducing the universal from the particular.  For example:

    All observed cows are black.

    Therefore all cows are black.

    Such a induction might be correct if all cows were of the Black Angus breed.  Such a conclusion would be incorrect, however, if some unobserved cows had a coloration different from black, such as Holsteins, which are black & white, Guernseys, which are fawn & white, or Jerseys, which typically have a light gray or mouse coloration.
