What is a small flowering plant that would grow well indoors...?

during the winter?

I'd like to have a small flowering plant inside to liven things up this winter. Any good ideas?

If not flowering, then just something else that would keep our home alive during cold and blistery days! :) Thanks!

African violets, Christmas cactus, Peace lillies are awesome.

You can try forcing amaryllis or narcissus bulbs.  Also, small gardenias are nice (but very fragrant) if you have a sunny window.  African violets and Christmas cactus are nice, too, but African violets can be picky if you don't have a green thumb.  Visit a local nursery and head for their greenhouse.  That should give you some ideas.
