I have been asked to outline the socio/cultural context of a specific issue - what do i do?

  1. You need to explain how society and culture 'make' that issue: what are the contrasting values, perspectives, and experience that lend credence to each side, and how they make reconciliation difficult.

    For example, the socio-cultural context of the g*y marriage debate can be thought of (simplistically) as the American values of liberty and individual rights in opposition to a strong religious tradition affiliated with the state and suspicion of those who are different.
