1. 1000 kilobytes is one megabyte

    a 1000 megabytes is one gigabyte

    and the average song is somewhere between 3 - 5 megabytes

  2. A megabyte is a unit of information or computer storage equal to either 106 (1,000,000) bytes or 220 (1,048,576) bytes, depending on context. In rare cases, it is used to mean 1000×1024 (1,024,000) bytes. It is commonly abbreviated as Mbyte or MB (compare Mb, for the megabit). The term megabyte was coined in 1970

    As far what it takes to use one up - A picture from a point and shoot digital camera - might take up from 1 to 3 megabytes on a memory card. A gigabyte is a 1000 megabytes - so if your memory card has a capacity of 1 gigabyte and 1 picture takes up 2 megabytes, your card could hold about 500 pictures.

  3. Megabyte in short MB is a measurement of data stored, i.e data capacity. Start with bit - smallest unit, byte, Kilo byte(KB), Megabyte(MB), Gigabyte(GB, Terrabyte(TB)

  4. It's the measuring unit for any data you store on a PC such as a photo, word document, song, program..etc..

    The order of such units for measuring storage capacity on a PC is like this:(a Byte is the smallest)

    Byte-> Kilobyte-> Megabyte-> Gigabyte

    for example, most songs take up to between 2-6 Megabytes (MB) of the hard disk's capacity depending on the format of the song (mp3, wav..). while images take more (16 MB for a JPEG image for example) also depending on the format (JPEG, BMP..). While most Programs take up to between 1-3 Gigabyte (GB).
