My husband and I want to go somewhere special for our anniversary, but we were hoping to make it a late lunch/early dinner and honestly haven't tried many fancy places.

Does anyone have some suggestions for a good fancy restaurant (around $50 or less a plate) in the Dallas area that we could go to?

We were thinking a Japanese restaurant or a place that serves many different types of food.

  1. A co-worker swears by this restaurant called Roys, which is off the Dallas North Tollway and Park/Parker in Plano. It's a Hawaiian restaurant but supposed to be very good. We haven't eaten there but the food sounds fabulous. It's really Hawaiian fusion, according to the website. Saw the owner on Family Jewels last night and was impressed by his style and demeanor. Happy Anniversary!

  2. OMG. You have to go to Dralions. My husband and I went there for our 2nd anniversary and have gone back every year since. I love it. The ambiance is awesome and the restaurant focuses on Japanese and Indo-Chinese cuisine from China and Vietnam. The interior is covered with red velvet, giving it a majestic and romantic feel. You are sure to get the freshest sushi in all of Dallas, because fresh fish is flown in everyday from different parts of Japan. In addition, the restaurant's Drae Lounge is happening till late.

  3. The French Room in The Adolphus Hotel. I stayed there once on a business trip. Five Star Hotel and restaurant. Very classically fancy. You and your date can also admire the awesome cars parked out front. Always a lamborghini or ferrari in the driveway.

  4. suze at midway and northwest highway.  small, intimate and very very good.

  5. for the Japanese restaurant, I would highly recommend Kobe's Steaks. It is where they cook in front of you and their food is exceptional. Kobe's is in Addison off of the Tollway. I always go there for the most special occasions. Please i urge you to go. I promise you won't be disappointed. They are the best.

  6. We celebrate our anniversary too this friday and I am kinda making plans too for our first. I am thinking of Roy's by the tollway. People have been raving about their food on the internet. Chocolate souffle appears to be the best. Oh btw this is Hawaiian.

    Enjoy your anniversary!!!

  7. 'the grape' on Greenville, look up their description in the Observer, though I have not personally been there - I have always heard its romantic perfection & Kobe's is nice too, good food and interesting, not super romantic though

  8. Tokyo One, The Blue Fish, Kobe's is good, Tampopo (not expensive though), I'd hit up Addison area by Beltline because there are tons of nice Asian restuarants there. Happy Anniversary.
