What is a sponsor?

me and my friends want to get a sponsor for Jamskating.we're like the best around(X-core)....we have the jackets and matching skates but everyone says we need more...like a sponsor.but i dont really know what that is,what do they do and do they get paid or what!!?!?!?help

a sponser is someone who gives u free stuff or discounts on stuff. lets say u get sponsered by a shoe company. theyll give u free shoes, and ull have to wear them to compitions and stuff, so ur sorta advertising for them.

A sponsor is there to provide you with free products in order for them, the company, to obtain publicity. The idea is that people will see you, and want the product. Many companies sponser a wide variety of athletes, but if you want a sponsorship, you need to send a video of you doing the activity you want sponsorship for to the company.
