Question:

What is a spread made from fermented yeast called?

At least, I believe if is fermented yeast. It tastes almost like soya sauce, and is spread on bread.

I keep thinking "marmalade", but that isn't it.

  1. Vegemite is one, and there is another one called Marmite is another.  there are a couple of different brands.

    Marmite is the British version - also sold in Northern European countries as well.


  2. You're probably thinking of Marmite.  I think it's British but it's also popular in Australia and new Zealand.  If you're looking for some, I've seen it in most Indian grocery stores (not that it's Indian food, but the Indian stores have some British foods).

    I love the stuff.. its good with cheese melted under the griller..

    Be careful with those things though, a scraping is all thats needed.. Its not like peanut butter..
