What is a standard mat size for an 11" by 14" diploma?

I need to buy a custom mat and frame for an 11" by 14" diploma. What is the standard mat size around the diploma?

There is really no "standard" but 2 1/2 to 3" border all around looks good to me and is "usual".  You might also consider double matting with school colors, using the darker one on top.

the print 11" x 14" on high matte glossy paper and is framed with a mat for a total size of  16"x 20" . this size is usually perfect for most decors and is not too big or too small.
