  1. I'm guessing here, but it appears to have 50 stitch types, some of which are not symmetrical.  From what I can see of the control panel, the additional 37 "stitch functions" are mirrored stitches... sort of like ( is a mirrored image of )

The question when buying any sewing machine is really, does it have the stitches I need to sew what I need to sew?  If you start selecting machines by number of stitches or "stitch functions" per dollar, you may well get a machine you don't much care for.  Typically, most users spend very little time with stitches beyond straight, zigzag, buttonhole, triple zigzag, stretch and regular blindhem and a few decorative stitches.  Again, generally speaking, the number of stitches/functions per dollar is inversely related to the quality of the machine.

  2. Good Morning.

I will try to give a brief answer to your question.  The LCD Operation Panel on the front of your machine is used to:

    (1)  Select one of the programmed stitches as outlined in the manual on page 27.

    (2)  To set or adjust the displayed stitch length in millimeters.

    (3)  To set or adjust the displayed stitch width in millimeters.

    (4)  To aid you by displaying the recommended presser foot for the programmed stitch you are using.

You are using a great Computerized Sewing Machine.  I hope you have the manual.   Happy stitching.
