Street Scam is a General term...

Could be someone trying to sell you stolen stuff on the corner

Or a person that sets up a game like the three cards and you guess where the Q of hearts is when he shuffles them around, he baits you and then takes your money.

OR a bait and switch...They show you one thing and you buy another.

Also could be someone who bumps into you intentionally and another that he is with, takes your wallet, bag, etc. when you are distracted.

AND many more..you get the idea

That's why some people say having "street sense" is important..so you don't get tricked or scammed.

A confidence trick or confidence game, also known as a con, scam, swindle, grift, bunko, flim flam, or scheme, is an attempt to swindle a person or people (known as the "mark" or sometimes "griftee") which involves gaining his or her confidence.

example:  selling someone a gold necklace and leading them to believe it is stolen and you are selling it cheap, when it is a fake gold chain the con person purchased for 10.00 dollars and sold to a unknowing "mark" for 300.00 dollars.  the mark believed it was a 1000.00 dollar necklace made of gold.
