Hi,

I have been searching for housing in Paris and "studette" is often mentionned. They described it as "a small studio". Does this include a toilette and shower? Or is it one that is shared with others such as in residences?

Thanks!

  1. Studette is a small studio. There should include toilet and shower.

However, you have to ask if it is a 'Chambre de bonne', it was the room dedicated the house maid, located on the top floor of the buildings, in general in Haussamanian buildings.

In that case, toilet might be outside.

But nowadays, when they are renovated, there are toilets and shower inside

  2. The studio usually has full accomodations ± laundry facitities. I ususally rent them when I visit. they are like out 1 room apt with a slip thru kitchen and a bath. about 20 sq meters

Check out www.attitudeparis.com and see some of the rentals at this apt rental site!

    Have fun take me ☺♂

  3. It is a very small one room studio of around 12 or 14 square metres everything included. If they don't have a bathroom they are called 'chambre de bonne' or servant's room, though you should always check as some crooks try to pass off a chambre as a studette.

  4. A studette is generally a bedroom where some facilities have been added.

Like a kitchen sink or a shower.

You MUST check it out before renting.

Studettes are too small to qualify for studio flats.

Although no room under 9 m2 may be rented out in France, some landlords still try.

So be weary and check everything out.
