  3. A suckling pig is a baby pig which has not yet been weened off it's mother's milk.

    The words 'suckling pig' are also applied to a pig which is about or less than one year old, which has then been slaughtered and is roasted on a spit - served up as 'suckling pig'.  This pig has only ever fed on mothers' milk and is thus succulent and soft when cooked, roasted.
